Over the course of my career I have visited many mines and other engineering projects, and have always enjoyed taking photos. Some of these are used in courses to illustrate cases and to give students a taste of what real rock engineering projects look like. As rock mechanics engineers well know, there is no substitute for examining the rock mass up close in person, but photos do help. Here is a tiny selection of mining and other photos that might be of general interest. Many are included for their photographic as opposed to technical characteristics.
